Q:I wanted to start reading Batwoman and I was wondering if You could please tell me what You think a good introduction would be. I was thinking of starting with JH Williams' New 52 run.
Hi, thanks for the question!
The beginning of the New 52 run is a perfectly good place to start, in all its delicious art-goodness. There’s also an issue #0 about twelve issues into the run that gives you a nice overview of the badass beginnings of Kate Kane/Batwoman.
However, there’s also Elegy, which is widely available because it’s so awesome. This is generally a very nice beginning place for people new to Batwoman, as it gives you the full low down on her beginnings and generally tells you everything you need to know about her. And has the ultimate pairing of Rucka writing and J.H Williams artwork.
Reading this first would also mean you’d get the full impact of the end of #17 in the New 52 run, should you get there ;)

Who is behind the hell beneath Arkham Asylum? Can Batwing and Jim Corrigan hope to stop it before it breaks out and consumes all of Gotham City?
Oooooh. And YES, Dustin is doing the art for the issue. Woo!
Q:You have been chosen by The Court Of Owls. If you choose to accept this summons answer this message using #BewareTheCourtOfOwls. If you choose to deny this summons, beware the Talon.
As Batwoman lovers I feel I can make the following assumptions.
You like strong female characters.
You like great writing (particularly by a certain Mr Blackman).
You like beautiful art.
And you love when all of the above is combined in one awesome place!
As such I really (again) recommend Elektra. Go buy her. It’s the right thing to do.
Q:What did you think of the annual?
I’ll keep this tight, as I could well start ranting.
I think I can sum it up by saying that, just as I was starting to get back on board, all the reservations I had when shiz went down when J.H and Blackman left have all come tumbling back.
It felt rushed. None of the characters felt like themselves.
And mostly it felt incredibly condescending to Kate. All to stuff her under Batman’s wing. Ugh. Ugggggh.
